I also have a raspberry-pi running OpenVPN, which I use to reach my home network (NAS, iMac, etc…) via my MacBook/iPhone when I'm out of home. I currently have the "Wake for Network Access" option enabled on Power Settings. It is always on, but it is allowed to go to sleep.
